The world or Marguigny

The World of Marquigny

Miniatures and storytelling ...

In the fast paced world of 2026 internet , and the declining lifespan of our attention span , I wanted to create a corner of the web where My creativity isn’t dictated by algorithms and likes . This is a space intended for a slower, more complete experience.

My hobby,  collecting and painting miniatures , is possibly as cerebral as it is manual. I often find myself frustrated by the limitations of platforms like Instagram, which struggle to truly capture a narrative, track a character’s evolution, or allow a world to grow. I also love writing , even if I'm not very good at it ! I was told by doctors since childhood that I had "issues" that should technically make me a terrible reader and writer... here we are. My passion for reading and crafting stories has proven them wrong.

This blog is the manifestation of that passion and my slight tendency for overthinking . I build stories (mostly in my head ) and use miniatures to make those stories come to life. I imagine adventures, build scenery to create the set, spend ages on window-shopping miniatures (casting the talent), and then paint them (costume design), take pictures, and edit those pictures (cinematography ) and share them with like-minded people. I like also journaling , to keeping track of why and how i do things.

What is "Marquigny"?

Marquigny is the name of a tiny village in the Ardennes region of Northeast France. My family once owned a home there; it is a place where generations of my ancestors were born and eventually laid to rest. Today, the village has fewer than a hundred inhabitants. I use the name to ensure it continues "existing" in some way, but also because it possesses a certain je ne sais quoi a French phonetics that evokes a sense of legacy and adventure.

In the context of this blog, Marquigny is a Setting. It is a world nearly identical to our own , perhaps a ninety five percent match in terms of history, sociology, and time. However, that remaining five percent is my playground. It allows me to slightly alter reality to suit my stories (and occasionally excuse my mistakes).

I am fortunate to have a well-documented family history, which serves as an endless well of inspiration. Names, places, coats of arms, and historical events act as the perfect hinge between those who came before me and my own imagination. Weaving my family’s past into this world soothes a deep craving to connect meaningfully with history. I hope it might even inspire a few readers to look into their own lineage.

History, with a Twist

I won’t be retelling exact history, and that is where the fun lies. I have a profound love for military pageantry and uniforms. I hope many of you share my affection for a historically accurate line of French Fusiliers at the Battle of Austerlitz, or a 14th-century knight with a meticulously rendered bascinet and heraldry.

However, I also want the freedom to let that knight hunt a witch... or perhaps a demon.

The World of Marquigny is a setting for me to explore accurate historical modelling, in different period of history , with just enough room to invite the occasional legendary creature, all viewed through the lens of my family’s history. it will be multi media . sometime i might post picture of my model , sometimes some made up family tree , sometime just stories and i hope you will enjoy reading those adventure as much as I enjoy crafting them !
